The Buildings and Grounds Committee, along with Kip DeLisio and other generous volunteers, were very busy these last almost four years. After the wonderful and extensive renovation of the St. John School kitchen, as well as the new cleaning area added, there were a number of other improvements to the school.  These included: installation of a complete new heating system, paneled duct work & four furnace rooms were built; a new handicap ramp in the front was added, along with new front door, and the first floor bathroom was made handicap accessible, and new chair lift was installed for the first floor. All classrooms & halls were painted, and pre-school and meeting rooms were renovated. The electrical service was significantly updated (including plugs and light switches in the rooms).  In the first and second floor, the new school windows were insulated, new molding added, and the area around them painted. New shades were installed for the first floor windows. New stairways into the school hall were built & front hallways were dry-walled and painted.

New insulation and drywall were installed for the walls facing the outside in order to keep the school hall warmer. There was a beautiful new ceiling and new lights & switches put in the school hall, including the back stairways. A new sewer line was put into the school. Locks and panic bars were fixed and "keyed" in the rectory, church and school, so that only one key was needed for each building (a total of only three different keys are needed for all our buildings now). A key safe was purchased to keep all keys secure and a list was made of all those who have keys for any building.

There were updated, as well as additional exit lights and emergency lights for both the church and school. New lighting was added for the entranceway of the school. The gutters on the school and church were repaired and cleaned. There was pointing done to many areas of the school.  A new flat roof was installed in the school, as well as other area of the school roof were fixed. Ceiling tiles were replaced in the second floor classroom. There were 20 replacement windows added to the rectory and 35 added to the first two floors of the school (purchased at cost and installed for free through Flower City Glass). This should help with our energy bills. The window area around the church and rectory were both painted and caulked.

In St. John church, having recently built a handicap ramp, there was a handicap accessible bathroom installed and an automatic door added. The handrails on the ramp were repaired. There was a heater pump put in to better heat the entranceway of the Church. There was new lighting put in the bell tower as well as improved parking lot lighting (all were put on timers) A new rug was installed in the front entrance way of the church.  We also added timed thermostats in the rectory, church, and school for better energy savings. Extensive pointing was done to the church. There was a new sound system, speakers, and microphones added in the church & choir loft.

A new sewer line was put into the rectory. New phones and a second line in the rectory office were installed for better convenience. A new Xerox machine, a new computer and a new printer were installed in the rectory office for more effective office work. In the rectory guest bathroom, a leak was repaired. A new sink & vanity were installed as had been previously done in the other upstairs bathroom. New rugs were put in the downstairs of the rectory and the office. New non-sliding rubber stair covering was installed in the entranceway of the rectory office. Additional electrical outlets were added for Sr. Catherine's office. A soundproof glass door was added in the rectory living room for confidentiality.

A committee led by Bruce Liseno developed an emergency plan for all the parishes' buildings, including emergency kits and carbon monoxide detectors for each building (for both St. John & St. Patrick). This should ad to the safety for those that use our facilities. Doorbells were installed for the front and back doors of the school, to insure better security for all those using the building.

The final major projects to be completed are the renovation of the school hall bathrooms, repairing the soffits on the school and expanding the parking lot in the back of the school.

St. Patrick's fixed the leak in the side wall, installed a new sidewalk and will expand the back parking.
